Ex-Auburn personnel staffer arrested on trade-secrets, computer-tampering charges

Auburn Police arrested David Rudolph Jenrath, 24, of Franklin, Tenn., on Sept. 28 on felony theft of trade secrets and computer tampering charges after sensitive information was allegedly stolen near the Auburn Athletics complex (300 block of South Donahue Drive) and shared with competitors, who returned it. Charging documents cited by AL.com accuse Jenrath of retaining Auburn University Athletics confidential information while employed and disclosing trade secrets to opponents with intent to harass the department; he turned himself in and is held at Lee County Jail on a $15,000 bond. LinkedIn lists him as an Auburn Football player personnel scouting assistant (running backs/special teams) from January–June 2026. Auburn Athletics declined comment.
